Amardeep, in particular has been such a joy to work with and has definitely made a tremendous contribution to the project. He has been extremely hardworking and has put in more effort than is required of him. He genuinely cares about the designs and brings forth fresh perspectives to the project. It is a real shame that due to the tight time constraints we are unable to implement some of his and the rest of the team's ideas but hopefully we can save these for the next release.
ARTICLES
I wrote an article based on the fundamental idea that a user should be able to complete the task they have undertaken. This was triggered by several experience I had online with various sites. I found myself lost or the task was so painful I opted to try else where. This compelled me to share these ideas through this article. To give you an idea here is the introductory sentences...
Task completion is a sensible, simple, and powerful metric. As it can track and record user actions and identify points where users find unintuitive. It is easy to over engineer and complicate tasks to accomplish a business goal.
One definition for cloud computing is “Cloud computing is a style of computing in which dynamically scalable and often virtualised resources are provided as a service over the Internet”. I presented these ideas as an educational piece internally at Detica presenting to senior members of the Creative team, senior project managers and business consultants. To share knowledge about this way of computing and which companies have embraced this technology to discussions on how to aid our clients to benefit from transferring their infrastructure to a more cloud based solution. Since then these slides have been used as part of presentation at two clients pitches.
This presentation was presented to the Ministry of Defence Intelligence Team and quarterly Detica senior team showcase. It is an informative presentation focussing of the development of AR (augmented reality) over the years, it’s current uses and how this technologies could provide an intelligent advantage for patrol soldiers on the front line in war fare situations. This presentation has aided the discussions to design and work with IDEO to develop prototypes for the Army in the near future.
As Internet technologies grow and the web applications attempt to semantically integrate information in ways that is both applicable and meaningful to the user. New concepts of how this could be achieved have been published however there is no single idea or method that outlines how the semantic web can be achieved.
Semantic web and cloud computing concepts are recently moving out of just being concepts and theoretical ways of thinking into small releases of ‘how we could work’.
Personas are a key tool in aiding every step of the design process to focus on who, what and when the targeted audience for a particular project. They allow us to add empathic focus to the design making it clean and coherent. I ran a workshop on this subject with Yell Direct to introduce internal stack holders about how and why we create these archetypes to and during the session provided them with the building blocks or DNA to understand construct a valid persona. This presentation has since then been used by colleges for both internal and other client facing workshop.
This presentation was fused together last minute to stand in for a Monday Mash (knowledge sharing) session. The theme was based around a subject I had been reading upon “persuasion” and the process of reasoning through which arguments exerts influence and have a lasting effect on its subjects. In this presentation I explore this area with online examples from clients websites. Making connections between the “Peripheral” and “Central” route and how those differ. Also looking at how people relate to the message and the characteristics that trigger them including their belief, attitudes, intentions and behaviour.

Who? What? When?
During my time at Brunel I had the opportunity to put my skills into practice in industry in a partnership with Gurmit Singh Shakhon we started up Mapleonline.co.uk it was an independently run multimedia company based in Central London. As a partner I hit the floor running in all aspects of the business. We had the pleasure working with great clients including MTV, London Fashion Week, Tracks publishing, Gharani and Strok and many more.
